Writing Task -2
As well as money making, business also have social responsibilities. What extent do you agree or disagree?
I completely agree that business organizations should have an aim of generating income simultaneous to performing some social obligations.
On the one side, the thought of earning astronomical amount of money is justified on many fronts. First of all, money is vital to maintain all business expenses such as staff’s salary, the latest appliances, numerous bills, advertising and what not. Another factor is that strong financial well- being ensures corporation’s success and position as it has to invest enormously in expanding business in this competitive world. In case of any economic crisis, it is hard to maintain business if they do not have an ambition of making profit.
On the other side, admittedly, many big corporations are already contributing to the society in terms of providing employment to thousands of people and paying tax to the state; which further is spent in rendering facilities, including education and health care, to the citizens, yet these companies should understand some other mandatory onus for society. For example, the exploitation of workers should be discarded on moral ground apart from taking care of their health. Moreover, they should spend money on green projects with a view to cleaning environment, because industries are considered the major culprits to contaminate environment while expanding their business. Besides, offering assistance in case of natural calamities and donating to charities are also good ways to perform their social obligations.
To conclude, I reiterate that business should give as much importance to their social obligations as they give their financial motives.
